Project Brief
The visibility and awareness of the Govt schemes and projects are less amongst the public in Kerela, a state of south India . The public has difficulty tracking their applications and getting their welfare details. Government officials have a hard time dealing with multiple complaints, understanding the real needs and accomplishing tasks on time.
I got an opportunity to lead a team to understand the user and to create a product to help bridge the information gap that exists between the public and the government.
User Groups
First, we define the user group we are building apps for. A user group is a set of people who have similar interests, goals, or concerns. One user group is common people from the age group 13 and above and another is government officials.

Building Empathy
As we continue understanding user goals, motivation and pain points, a way to visualize empathy is by creating an empathy map. An empathy map is an easily understood chart that explains everything we have learned about our users. We also created the As-is scenario to understand the current situation.

Persona
We started working on developing personas we were focusing on, to understand the audience, but most importantly, to be able to make quick but well-informed decisions during the processes.

Brainstorming Ideas
Brainstorming possible solutions to our design problems gave us the opportunity to get creative and have some fun. The idea was to come up with as many solutions to our problem as we can and then select the best and most feasible ones.

Web Portal for Public
Kerela boasts the highest literacy rate at 96.2% and 85% internet access in India so we worked on a web portal and mobile app. They can view all the current projects and schemes in one portal. Users can apply and track different schemes and grants through the web portal and app. They can also stay up-to-date on all the events happening in their state.
